What happens when you combine Gorillaz, Andre 3000 and James Murphy? This. Great. Track.

Little Black Submarines - Black Keys

This is my favorite track from El Camino. When it kicks in, I can’t help but go ape-shit. Really wanna see these guys with the Arctic Monkeys when they come to Philly. But it’s in the Wells Fargo center which it’ll boku $$$$$. What are your feelings on arena shows? Unless it is The Rolling Stones or something, I’m not really a fan.

Do you like funk? Rock? R+B? Mashups? Have you attended Making Time? Have you left Making Time at 4 am to find yourself in the middle of the gayborhood and seen 27 black transvestites fist fighting in the middle of the street with wigs and high heels flying everywhere (it happened to me at the Surferblood show)? If so you’ll love this. Philly’s own DJ Rocktits. One hour and forty minutes of pure musical delight.

ps. I will never go to Making Time at Voyeur again after that traumatic experience.

Tennis- Origins

Here is the video for origins which is off of their sophomore album Young and Old that came out on Valentines day. I like the video. It looks like some sorta IRA training video. I also happen to like the album. Of course I am a sucker for anything overly-reverbed that sounds like 60’s surf music, so I may be a bad judge.

Of course my return to the blogosphere would not be complete without a brand new edition of…

OLD DUDES KILLING IT ON GUITAR !!!!

Nice blues piece by this guy. His youtube username is KYthumb. I’m not sure if that is some sorta sexual innuendo or not. Not sure if I wanna know.

Sleigh Bells - Demons

Here is a track off of Sleigh Bells new album Reign Of Terror which drops this tuesday. These guys are def one of my favorite artists to listen to while running, driving fast, or anything involving danger. After my initial listen this is prob my fav track. Probably because it is the one that sounds the most like their last album. But like the last album Treats, this one will have to grow on you a bit. Reign of Terror is definitely more guitar driven and melodic as opposed to just blasting you in the face like Treats did. But at the end of the day two things remain constant.

1. Sleigh Bells will STILL blow out the speakers in your car if left unchecked.

2. Alexis Krauss is the sexiest woman in indie (sorry Zozo)

Jack White - Love Interuption

Wow, It’s been a while. Had the urge to start up again. To get back in the swing of things, here is one of my all time favs. A video of Jack White’s new single of his upcoming solo release Blunderbuss due out April 24th. I like it alot. Love the lyrics. However it is kinda weird that is considered a solo project. Nothing against Meg, but Jack pretty much was the White Stripes. Irregardless, I am excited about the forthcoming album, especially if he will be touring with it.

Other Lives - For 12

You kinda get mesmerized by this song. Hailing from Still Water, Oklamhoma, this group has great harmonies, a pulsating guitar chords, and an elegant cello to tie it all together. Track came out this past Oct on their album Tamer Animals. Gonna have to download.

Fort Lean - Beach Holiday

To sum up this Brooklyn based band I’d say: Surfy tunes, cool lyrics, and great overall vibe. Excellent timing on discovering these guys via MOKB, since summer is upon us. You can download four tracks for free on their bandcamp here. I liked all four and am awaiting to hear more from them and to see them when they make they way to Philly.

The Noisettes - Never Forget You

This song came out in 2009. At the time I remember being really into it. Then I remember hearing the rest of the album. Not one of them sounded like this track, leaving me disappointed. Heard it on the radio yesterday and it brought back all these feelings. Rest of the album be damned, I still like this song.

They are playing many shows in and around Philly, including tonight at KFN. Check them out July 15th opening for the Bouncing Souls too.

Bouncing Souls - Argyle

A friend of mine from college plays bass in the band Gods and Queens. They will be opening up for the Bouncing Souls July 15th at the FU Church. This songs takes me way back to my freshman year of high school. Back then the song The BMX song was my jam, but Argyle would have to be my fav from the album Maniacal Laughter.

Bon Iver - Calgary

This is the new track from his upcoming self-titled album. Bon Iver has added some nice new elements to his sound and you would have to think the album is gonna be a sure winner.

On a side note, When you hear the word Calgary, what do you think of ?

The city ?

Canadien Cowboys ?

 Brett “The Hitman” Hart ?

Lanny McDonald, the dude from the 1989  Stanley Cup Champion Calgary Flames?
